- Last Wednesday, we went to visit a few of Maj’s old OU coaches and see the newly renovated facility. Let me tell y’all, OU players are living the life!
- It is interesting to see the difference between college and NFL football facilities. Contrary to what one would expect, while some NFL teams do put lots of money into their facilities, most do not. They don’t need to. Recruiting is not as important in the world of professional football.
- Exam season started last Thursday… And will not end until the end of the semester. *sigh* I had an exam in tax accounting on Thursday, an exam in accounting information systems today, and I have exams in cost accounting and auditing this Thursday. This is when I start to wonder why I decided to come back to this place. 😊
- My mom and baby brother came into town this past weekend! I say baby brother, but at 8 years old, he is not a baby anymore. Since he was born when I was a teenager, Joshy is almost like my own kid. He began kindergarten when I left for college. It is hard being away from him all the time, but I am definitely thankful that we are in Oklahoma right now. It makes seeing family much easier.
- On Saturday, Maj held in his second youth camp in Norman. We narrowly escaped the frigid 20˚ temperatures when the camp was moved to an indoor facility in the small town of Washington, Oklahoma, right up the road from our house. A friend of ours from high school came to help him out. It’s always so great catching up with old friends!
- The camp was packed out with 207 kids. I tried to get Joshy to participate, but instead he played catch with some other little boys while I read a book.
- Reading has become a new favorite hobby of Maj and me both. Every night before bed (and sometimes during the day when we have free time), we read instead of watching TV. Maj just finished the first Jurassic Park novel and is now working on the second – and he is already planning what he is going to read next!!! Just a couple months ago, when I suggested he read for fun, he would not even entertain the idea. Once he actually got into a book, though, he found the joy in reading. I am so proud. :’)
- I have switched to books as well from crossword puzzles. (I had about a month-long obsession with crosswords. They are addicting.) Last week, I finished The Couple Next Door, and a couple days ago I finished a book called Perfect Peace. The two books are quite different, but they are both wonderful reads.
- Friday we head to Texas for the first time since we moved back to Oklahoma. It is going to be a quick trip full of wedding preparation, but I am ready for some QUESO!!!
- OUR KITCHEN/LIVING ROOM IS (temporarily) FINISHED! Here is a little gallery showing phase I of the transformation. We got the cabinets painted, painted the ceiling, and installed new light fixtures. Next up will be painting the walls.
Book rec: Behind Her Eyes by Sarah Pinborough. This was HANDS DOWN the most insane thriller I read last year and possibly my top 5 fav books of all times. If you liked the Couple Next Door, read Behind Closed Doors by BA Paris, she also has a second novel called The Breakdown. Both even better than CND in my opinion, though all are worthy of a read!
