(Today is my mom’s birthday. Happy birthday Mom!)
- I can share details of last week’s project now! Last Monday, I baked over 20 dozen cookies, packaged them up, and sent them out to 15 family members and friends. Sadly, a few boxes did not make it to their recipients in time (before they went home for the school break), but luckily the majority of them did. A few things I learned: First of all, I will be sure to mail them out earlier next time. These were a bit delayed because our Christmas cards came in late. We are ordering Christmas cards in October next year. Second, I should probably bake some of the cookies the day before instead of trying to bake and package them all at once. My kitchen was a huge mess and it was a bit of a stressful day, but you live and you learn. I had lots of fun!
- Last Friday Maj and I went to a toy drive put on by one of his fellow teammates. I love toy drives! I got to go on a little shopping spree and pick out some super cool stuff. Until we have kids of our own, Toys for Tots will be the recipient of all of my Christmas toy shopping – the holiday just isn’t complete without toys!
- Here’s a fun story: Saturday night, when Samajé, his mom, and I went to dinner before dropping him off at the team’s pre-game hotel, a guy stopped by our table with an arm full of bouquets and asked Maj if he would like to buy “flowers for the lady.” Maj glanced at me, and I immediately responded with my usual “No thanks, it’s okay,” because Maj isn’t a flowers guy, nor is he a spontaneous romantic. Much to my surprise, he turned back to the guy and said “Actually, yes.” That was the third bouquet of flowers he’s ever given me, and it was for no reason at all. It’s the little things. 🙂 (As you can see in the picture below, I was dressed for the occasion… LOL.)
- Speaking of Saturday night dinner, we had to go to FOUR different restaurants to find one with a wait time less than 45 minutes, even though we arrived a bit before the typical dinner hours. Apparently Christmas time means crowds everywhere!
- Speaking of Christmas time and crowds, there was a line to get into the post office parking lot yesterday and today. How do I know that, you ask? Well, because I am right in line with my fellow Christmas shipping procrastinators and had to go two days in a row. In fact, I still have one more trip to make later this week.
- Sunday, the Redskins played the Arizona Cardinals – AND WE WON! It feels like it’s been a while since that happened. The most awesome part about wins is that the team gets Monday (their usual off day) AND Tuesday off, which means more QT with my man.
- Anyone else ever realize that you’re literally painfully awkward? I noticed on Sunday that I am bound to be awkward at least once every time I am around a large group of people. It’s even worse when I’m tired. I’ve embraced it as part of who I am, but this is why I have social anxiety. :p
- Maj and I saw Star Wars last night. I give it a 6 out of 10. It was the first Star Wars movie I have ever seen, so half of it was lost on me. It kind of made me want to watch the first ones… We’ll see if that actually happens.
- By the time I write my next Tuesday Ten, Christmas will be over. (*sad face*) I am super excited, though! We’ve got some fun things planned for Christmas Eve after the game, and Christmas Day is sure to be just as joyful!
- Since I missed posting a recipe two weeks ago, I’m coming at you with two Christmas cookie recipes this week!
