I’ve struggled with writing frequently on my blog in the past because, quite frankly, most of the goings-on around here aren’t interesting enough to warrant their own posts. I have decided to start the “Tuesday Ten,” where I will share ten of the most exciting (or un-exciting) things happening each week in the Perine household. Some things may actually be interesting; most will just be insignificant details you may or may not care to know. 😊 Proceed as you wish!
- While I would like to say I have been toiling over this blog, the majority of this past week has instead been spent recovering from my wisdom teeth extraction surgery. It has now officially been over one week, and luckily, my experience has not been too terrible (*knock on wood*). Besides being down for the count for a few days, the worst part for me was that I could not eat normal food. I grew tired of refried beans and yogurt by about day two. Panera mac and cheese definitely came in clutch (shout out – best mac and cheese ever). While Maj was very helpful when he was home, my hardest recovery days were, of course, his longest work days. I am still in a bit of pain, but I think the hardest part is over. Needless to say, I am very glad that it was a one-time thing.
- In the meantime, as I was nursing my swollen jaws, Samajé was nursing his bruised pinky toe. It seems like there is always some kind of injury in this house, which, I guess, is expected when your husband repeatedly barrels into very large men for a living. We are thanking our lucky stars Maj’s injuries have been kept to a minimum so far this season. Every day I pray it stays that way!
- How about that New Orleans game?! Unfortunately, we did not pull out the win, which was extremely frustrating. I loved watching Samajé kill it though! He scored his first rushing touchdown and broke the 100-yard mark for his first time in the NFL. I was planning on watching the game with a few other wives, but, as luck would have it, I came down with a mean cold on the last stretch of my wisdom teeth recovery. Instead, I watched from my couch with Moose and Bear. Womp womp.
- The Perine Family Christmas Card Pictures are taking place this week! There will be sweaters involved. I am PUMPED.
- We are currently stuck between holidays. The Christmas tree is up and the red and green décor is out, right alongside the fall leaves and pumpkins. After Thanksgiving, I think it will be time to leave the fall colors behind and dive head first into Christmas – my absolute FAVORITE time of the year. (P.S. – You can get that super cute snowman Scentsy warmer and some great Christmas scents from my mom’s website here.)
- Speaking of Thanksgiving, the holiday will be very different for us this year. In two out of the past three years, Maj has had an off week over Thanksgiving break – the ideal (although rare) situation in a football family. Of course, this year, he not only does not have an off week, but his game is actually on Thanksgiving DAY. Unfortunately, that means no Thanksgiving with family, but we will probably celebrate the day after. I refuse to miss out on an opportunity to make lots of food.
- I should knock on wood again, but we finally have a house of healthy dogs! At any given point over the last month or so, one dog or the other has been sick. I think we are in the clear for a little bit – a most welcome change.
- We have officially had Moosie for a whole year! The year has been filled with 90% sweetness and only 10% pain in the rear. We love our big baby!
- We go through lots of “food fads” in this house. (Food fad = things we eat at least every other day.) The most recent food fad is cinnamon toast. So simple, but so stinkin’ delicious.
- I’ve got a nice loaf of pumpkin bread in the oven as we speak. It smells heavenly. The recipe may be coming just in time for Thanksgiving. 😊
